PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a cost by simplifying a circuit structure for applying a voltage to a starting circuit in a discharge lamp lighting circuit. SOLUTION: This discharge lamp lighting circuit 1 has a starting circuit 5 for applying a starting signal for a discharge lamp 6 to the discharge lamp 6 by superimposing it on the output voltage of a D.C-A.C. conversion circuit 4. A capacitor C-2 installed at the output stage of a D.C. power circuit 3 is charged when a diode D-1 is carrying a current, and the stored charge of the capacitor C-2 is transferred to a capacitor C-3 when a diode D-2 is carrying a current. After the terminal voltage of a capacitor C-1 is raised by the charge transfer from the capacitor C-3 to the capacitor C-1, when the voltage finally reaches a voltage value enough to turn on (or break down) a switch element SWg, a pulse voltage is generated in a primary side circuit 10 of a transformer ST and applied to the discharge lamp 6 through a secondary winding STb. |
