APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DIVIDING IMAGE

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for dividing an image are provided to infer the interrelation between two regions by rearranging an order of combining a region by using a hierarchical region structure, extracting a surrounding, finding and removing a noise region. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus and a method for dividing an image includes an initial region dividing unit(100), a region structurization unit(110), and an over-division region combining unit(120). The dividing unit(100) divides images inputted from a camera or a video according to same color or region. The region structurization unit(110) extracts hierarchical region information of each region from the divided region information and structurizes each region according to the extracted hierarchical region information. The region combining unit(120) discriminates the order of combination between regions from the structurized region information and combines the region boundary.
