PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent image quality with a high S/N even when an envelope level of a video signal at special reproduction is decreased by selecting a noise elimination bandwidth and an elimination amount for noise reduction (NR) processing between a usual reproduction and the special reproduction. SOLUTION: A two-dimensional and three-dimensional YNR circuit 2 processes a reproduction signal outputted from a video signal processing circuit 1. A reproduction signal output from the YNR circuit 2 is respectively given to a 3.58 MHz NR circuit 3, a horizontal NC circuit 5 and a low frequency vertical NR circuit 7. Subtractors 4, 6, 8 respectively subtract each noise component of the 3.58 MHz NR circuit 3, the horizontal NC circuit 5 and the low frequency vertical NR circuit 7 from the reproduction signal output of the YNR circuit 2. A mode changeover control circuit 11 switches a noise elimination bandwidth with an elimination amount of the NR processing by the 3.58 MHz NR circuit 3, the horizontal NC circuit 5 and the low frequency vertical NR circuit 7. Thus excellent image quality can be obtained.
