PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the native resolution of an imaging assembly with a simple method. SOLUTION: At least part of the imaging assembly is moved along a scanning axis in a 1st scanning sweep (step 46), a 1st image data set with the native resolution and denoting a scanning object is generated and stored in a memory (step 48). Then, at least part of the imaging assembly is moved along the scanning axis in a direction opposite to the scanning direction at the 1st scanning from a termination position opposite to the start position of, e.g. at the 1st scanning (step 50), a 2nd image data set resulting from displacing the position of the image sensor in the assembly from a corresponding position of the image sensor at the 1st scanning by a mechanical play of the scanner is generated and stored in the memory (step 52). The 1st and 2nd image data sets are combined to generate an image data set with a higher resolution (step 54).
