A fan (8) oven has a cleaning agent in a container (1) connected to the fan inlet (13). The oven is then heated to increase pressure in the container to pass cleaning agent into the fan intake for distribution around the oven. After allowing time for the contaminants to be dissolved by the cleaning agent, the oven is then water rinsed internally to remove agent and contaminants through drain means in the oven base. Independent claims are also included for (a) a container for the cleaning agent, and for (b) heating appliance in oven.
