PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently distribute not only a map image but also road data usable in an on-vehicle navigation device or the like in a map distribution system distributing map data via communication lines. SOLUTION: A server reads the map data of a predetermined area from a map data base for plotting the map image having normalized coordinates, and it generates the road data having normalized coordinates of the predetermined area for distributing it to the on-vehicle navigation device (client). In the on-vehicle navigation device, a present position of a vehicle on the map images is ascertained using the distributed road data and a mark representing the present position of the vehicle is displayed by superposing it on the map image. |
