PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device, stable with little spurious radiation and capable of greatly increasing the efficiently of generating ultraviolet ray. SOLUTION: The plasma display device comprises a plasma display panel provided on a first extending in a first direction, having a pair of sustaining discharge electrodes for forming a plasma in a plurality of discharge cells. If a direction angleθto the first direction on the first substrate is defined as a second direction, at least one of the discharge cells has a plurality of polar vectors, connecting the sections of the pair sustaining discharge electrodes, existing on a cut plane in a cross section along the second direction. At least at a time, the second-direction component of at least one polar vector is directed in opposition to the second-direction components of other polar vectors.
