PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wood decomposition product which can be obtained by simply decomposing a wood and has wide application for epoxy resin, urethane resin or the like. SOLUTION: The wood decomposition product is obtained by decomposing a wood by at least one compound selected from the group consisting of hydroxycarboxylic acids, dicarboxylic acids and aminoalcohols. A cellulose swelling agent and a Lewis acid may be used together with the compounds for decomposition. Only a combination of a Lewis acid and a cellulose swelling agent can decompose a wood. A raw material wood that can also be used comprises a wood treated with an antiseptic, or a wood coated with a polyvinyl chloride film. The wood decomposition product thus obtained is used in the method for adhering an object, the method for curing an uncured epoxy resin, the process for producing an epoxy resin, or the process for producing a urethane resin.
