PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method in which the water heater is allowed to recognize the model designation of a remote controller, and the water heater is controlled in accordance with the model designation, in a water heater system comprising the water heater and the remote controller. SOLUTION: In the control method of the water heater system, there is included a step of issuing a signal requiring a sending of data on the model designation of the water heater. In the signal requiring a data sending, data indicating the model designation of the remote controller is included.
