PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable type wall thickness measuring instrument for piping suitable for wall thickness measurement for the piping in a narrow site, and capable of measuring a wall thickness easily and precisely. SOLUTION: This instrument is provided with a gripping body 11 having a gripping part and a horizontal part, a lever 12 with its one end attached turnably to the horizontal part of the gripping body, a coil spring 18 interposed between the gripping part of the gripping body and the lever, a rod 14 with its rear end connected to the lever, a guide block 13 extended horizontally from a tip of the horizontal part of the gripping body and having a through hole for the rod, a pair of expandable blocks 16, 16 arranged with the rod therebetween, two pairs of links 15, 15 for connecting the guide blocks to rear end side faces of the blocks, two pairs of another links 15, 15 for connecting front end side faces of the blocks to a tip of the rod, and an ultrasonic probe 17 provided in one of the blocks.
