PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid state image pickup device which can image an image having a wide dynamic range.SOLUTION: According to one embodiment, a solid state image pickup device having a first semiconductor chip and a second semiconductor chip is provided. In the first semiconductor chip, a plurality of pixel groups are arranged. The pixel group includes a plurality of pixels. On the second semiconductor chip, the first semiconductor chip is laminated. In the second semiconductor chip, a plurality of pixel control blocks are arranged. The pixel control block includes an A/D conversion circuit.
