PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture display device and its manufacturing method wherein sealing can be easily and surely made in a vacuum atmosphere. SOLUTION: A vacuum package 10 of the picture display device has a rear face substrate 12 and a front face substrate 11, which are arranged opposing to each other, and a side wall 18 arranged between the rear face substrate and the front face substrate. The rear face substrate and the side wall are sealed together with a low melting point glass 30. The front face substrate and the side wall are sealed together via an aluminum film 32. Another aluminum film 34 opposing to the aluminum film 32 via this front face substrate is formed in an external face peripheral part of the front face substrate. The sealing of the front face substrate with the side wall is performed by a voltage applied between the aluminum films 32, 34.
