PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AV unit and a control method, with which the desired AV unit is selected from a plurality of AV units connected to the outside with a simple operation and operability for a user is made convenient. SOLUTION: In the AV unit 11 which can selectively control a plurality of the connected AV units 12, a plurality of the AV units 12 are registered making them correspond to a plurality of operators 20 for controlling the AV unit 11. When the desired operator 20 is operated, the AV unit 12 registered making it correspond to the operated operator 20 is selected by the AV unit 11 and information for specifying the selected AV unit 12 is displayed.
