Extruded elastomeric or plastic profiles internally reinforced by a strip metal profile of a non-stainless material is made using continuous metal profile of which the section is significantly reduced at intervals which correspond to specific lengths at which the composite profiles may be cut for use e.g. as decorative trim for automobile bodies. Pref. the narrow link sections in the metal profiles are also notched adjacent to their junction with the full metal profile section, so that the metal link section at the end of a cut length of the composite profile can be removed. Reduces the terminal surface area of metal exposed at the end of a cut profile, from which internal corrosion may develop. Esp. applicable to scraper seal profiles mounted alongside retractable windows in vehicle doors, etc.
