PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently meet a fast video signal even when a liquid crystal display panel is sued as a picture display means, and to prevent an outline of a video from becoming obscure even when a video of violent brightness change is inputted. SOLUTION: The device for display-controlling a picture display means differing in a response time according to brightness gradations based on a video data DIN to be inputted for each frame is provided with a storage means 4 for storing the video data DIN of the frame precedent to the present frame at least by one frame, and a correction means 6 for calculating a difference between the brightness gradation of the video data DIN of the preceding frame stored in the storage means 4 and the brightness gradation of the video data of the present frame, calculating a correction value corresponding to the difference into the brightness gradation of the higher order bit video data of the present frame, and outputting it. With this configuration, the picture display device can sufficiently meet a fast moving video signal even when the liquid crystal display panel is used as the picture display means 12.
