PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device that can protect a driver in the event of a vehicle overturn. SOLUTION: The driver protection device mounted in a vehicle cab comprises air bags 8 and 58 for protecting a driver, switching means 40 disposed in the cab 7 to output a signal when switched, and a controller 15 for receiving the signal from the switching means 40 to inflate the air bag 8 and 58. The controller 15 maintains the inflated state of the air bag 8 and 58 for a given time.
