PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely, accurately, and easily detect a damage in the concrete lining surface of a tunnel in the method for detecting the damage. SOLUTION: Fouling adhering to the concrete lining surface 1 is washed, moisture 4 is removed by wiping or the like, and the lining surface 1 is uniformly heated and dried by a panel heater 13. The lining surface 1 is photographed by an infrared camera 14 immediately after heating and drying to obtain an infrared image 5. Then, the lining surface 1 is photographed by an accurate digital camera 15 to obtain a digital image 7. When the images are to be photographed, the position of a pointer in a laser range finger on the lining surface 1 is photographed, and the coordinates position of an image that is photographed by the range finger is measured simultaneously. After that, when the infrared image 5 is overlapped with the digital image 7 using coordinates data or the like, a crack image section 5a on the image 5 overlaps with the crack image section 7a on the image 7, thus specifying the size, shape, and position of the crack 2 on the lining surface 1 on the image for sure and accurate detection.
