PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder in which the degree of suction of a recording medium can be regulated. SOLUTION: The recorder comprises means 217 for sucking a recorded recording medium, and means 101a and 101b for varying the suction force of the sucking means depending on the properties of the recording medium. Since the suction force of the sucking means can be set depending on the state of the recording medium, even a recording medium curled intensely can be sucked surely onto the carrying face of the recording medium by the sucking means and even a thin recording medium having no rigidity can be prevented from being stuck onto the carrying face of the recording medium by the sucking means.
