PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device using portable telephones which enables with only a single portable telephone for operating many apparatuses. SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a key mapping table 12 for defining the relation of key data 11, from a portable telephone 100 with keys of a plurality of apparatus, a key data conversion means 13 for converting inputted key data into specified key data using the table 12, a data format conversion means 15 for converting the key data converted by the converting means 13 to a data format that an apparatus 2 connected to the portable telephone 100 can process, using a data format conversion table 14, a table selecting means 16 for selecting a mapping table of the apparatus 2 connected to the portable telephone 100 from the mapping table 12 and selecting the conversion table of the apparatus 2 connected to the telephone 100 from the data format conversion table 14, and a data transfer means 17 for transferring the key data, converted by the format conversion means 15 to the apparatus 2 connected to the telephone 100.
