PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid block detergent having high safety, and weak alkalinity providing little load to the environment, capable of being solidified without crack and swelling, and having excellent detergency. SOLUTION: This solid block detergent composition comprises (A) 5-80 wt.% one or more kinds of weak alkaline chemicals selected from the group consisting of carbonate, bicarbonate, silicate, phosphate or borate of an alkali metal, and an amine compound, (B) 5-80 wt.% chelating agent, and (C) 1-80 wt.% polyethylene glycol having >=1,000 weight average molecular weight or solid at normal temperature (25 deg.C). Optionally, (D) an enzyme, (E) a bleaching agent or (F) a nonionic surfactant can be formulated therewith.
