PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system which employ a rotary belt for maintaining a pen in a thermal ink jet printer. SOLUTION: A service station for pens is provided, which includes (a) the rotary belt having an outer surface and an inner surface, (b) at least one wiper arranged on the outer surface of the treadmill belt, (c) a first roller, (d) a second roller, and (e) a driving axle coupled to either the first roller or the second roller. The rotary belt is mounted on the first roller and the second roller, and the first roller and the second roller contact the inner surface of the rotary belt for driving the rotary belt.
