PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make influence on the detection of a rotational position little even when a shaft 2 is decentered with respect to detection coils 6a-6d. SOLUTION: A plurality of the detection coils 6a-6d are provided on the detection side of the rotational position detector so that the top faces of cores 14a-14d are aligned on the same plane, a ring like cam 20 is provided on the shaft 2 side, and the axial displacement of a cam face 22 is changed by a rotational position of the shaft 2. A with of the cam 20 is provided narrower than the widths of the cores 14a-14d, and the axial displacement of the cam face 22 is constant along the radial direction from the center of the shaft 2.
