PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide highly transparent glass capable of being effectively restrained in generation of NiS at the time of melting a glass raw material, and to provide a method of manufacturing the highly transparent glass. SOLUTION: This highly transparent glass plate is a soda-lime silicate glass plate containing whole iron oxide in terms of <0.02 mass% Fe2O3, and contains 0.006-2.0 mass% zinc oxide. The glass raw material is restrained in generation of a nickel sulfide grain in the melt-formed glass by adding a zinc compound. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
