PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vegetation block for covering a formation level, reliably preventing the outflow of vegetation materials due to rain to properly achieve the intended coverage and greening. SOLUTION: The vegetation block for covering the formation level is obtained by vertically and laterally partitioning the inner part of a concrete square container 1 formed by putting up a surrounding wall 3 on the periphery of a bottom plate 2 with partition walls 4 made by casting concrete to form plural compartments 5 opened upward, fitting a vegetation mat 8 comprising a vegetation material 6 covered with a covering body 7 in each compartment 5, imparting swelling properties to the vegetation mat 8 so that the vegetation mat 8 and the inner surface of each compartment closely contact with each other and the mat bulges toward the open surface 9 of each compartment.
