PURPOSE: The use of meloxicam in treatment or prevention of acute coronary syndrome or related conditions or reducing the risk of cardiovascular events, in combination with a therapeutically or prophylactically effective amount of an antiplatelet agent is provided. Furthermore, the use of meloxicam is provided for manufacture of a pharmaceutical composition for treatment or prevention of acute coronary syndrome and related conditions when used in combination with an antiplatelet agent. CONSTITUTION: For the treatment or prevention of acute coronary syndrome or related conditions or reducing the risk of cardiovascular events, a therapeutically or prophylactically effective amount of meloxicam is administered to a patient in need of such treatment, in combination with a therapeutically or prophylactically effective amount of an antiplatelet agent. The pharmaceutical composition comprising the meloxicam and antiplatelet agent also is added to the standard antiplatelet treatment or applied after the antithrombotic treatment. The antiplatelet agent is selected from glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor antagonists, clopidogrel, ticlopidine, dipyridamole, cilostazol and acetyl salicylic acid.
