PURPOSE: To provide a method for recovering a catalystic material for oxidation from sludges generated from a dimethylterephthalate manufacturing process, which is able to increase purity of the catalytic material for oxidation by removing organic impurities from an extract of the catalytic material. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of (a) introducing an aqueous catalytic solution that is extracted from a dimethylterephthalate sludge to a second settling tank, the dimethylterephthalate sludge having been firstly settled in a first settling tank; (b) allowing organic materials in the aqueous catalytic solution to be crystallized and settled, thereby separating a lower layer containing a large amount of the organic materials and an upper layer containing a relatively small amount of the organic materials; and (c) recirculating the lower layer of the second settling tank to the first settling tank to recover the aqueous catalytic solution remained in the upper layer of the second settling tank.
