<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control method capable of changing the quality of fuel by using natural ore without requiring calcination, and burning particulate matters in exhaust gas, and to provide a sub fuel tank and a muffler used in the method. <P>SOLUTION: The method comprises a step for bringing fuel into contact with a particulate body of natural ore composed mainly of silicon dioxide halfway between a fuel tank and a fuel filter, and a step for bringing exhaust gas into contact with the particulate body of the same kind at midpoint in an exhaust passage. A quartz porphyry is used as a natural ore in both steps. The sub fuel tank is arranged halfway between the fuel tank and the fuel filter, and the inside thereof is filled with the natural ore. The muffler is arranged continuously to an internal combustion engine.
