<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable even an inexperienced designer to perform a work for converting a concept specification to a concrete component with a quality of a fixed level or more in a short period. <P>SOLUTION: This concept design support method comprises a construction process for registering relations among concept specification, component and design specification required for the design of a product in a database; a concept specification determination process for urging the determination of the content of the concept specification; a component determination process for presenting a component used in a specified model to the designer based on the relation between concept and component, and urging the designer to determine the component; a design specification extraction process; and a component adaptation process for adapting a component providing the most preferable design specification from the design specification presented in the design specification extraction process.
