PURPOSE: A clutch coupling failure judging method of a washing machine is provided to easily check the breakdown of a clutch coupling by displaying an error message for the broken clutch coupling regardless of the quantity of the laundry. CONSTITUTION: A clutch coupling failure judging method of a washing machine is composed of steps for storing RPM(Revolution Per Minute) and braking time in braking a motor of the washing machine(S10,S20); comparing a braking standard time corresponding to RPM for braking in the braking time for each pre-stored RPM of the motor with an actual braking time(S50); deciding that a clutch coupling is abnormal if the actual braking time is below the braking standard time and that the clutch coupling is normal if the actual braking time is over the braking standard time(S60); and showing a failure decision result on a display window of the washing machine or outputting a signal sound(S70). |
