PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating a mechanism of a portable computer. SOLUTION: The method for operating the mechanism of the portable computer provides a key signal to an embedded controller (EC) 102 at first, which checks a security and generates a security operation when the key signal is received. The security operation includes a plurality of protections, which are for preventing an operator from inputting data on a keyboard, for preventing the operator from inputting the data through a mouse, for preventing the operator from switching the portable computer on, and for preventing the EC 102 from changing a BIOS data.
