<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus or the like for drastically reducing the size of a file, without greatly degrading the image quality of a multi-valued image being a processing object image while ensuring the visibility of pixels of a particular attribute part, even when the image includes a region (particular attribute part) with a particular attribute, such as characters and ruled lines. <P>SOLUTION: The proposed image processing includes steps S1, S2 of preparing the multi-value image and a binary image based on the multi-value image; a step S3 of identifying the pixels of the particular attribute part, on the basis of the binary image; a step S4 of replacing pixels other than those of the particular attribute part with white pixels, according to the presence/absence of the particular attribute part; a step S5 of extracting the concatenated components of black pixels from a binary image resulting from replacing the pixels other than those of the particular attribute part with white pixels, classifying the sizes of the concatenated components, and generating a binary image, resulting from replacing further the components of too large sizes and too small sizes with white pixels; steps S7, S8 of thereafter generating an image of the particular attribute part made of determined colors; a step S6 of generating a multi-value image, resulting from filling the pixels of the particular attribute part with a background color; a step S9 of coding the multi-value image; and a step S10 of forming the coded image as a file. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
