A secondary non-aqueous electrolyte battery incorporates a positive electrode (1), a negative electrode (2), a separator (3) interposed between these electrodes and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode includes an active material which is a mixture of a lithium-manganese oxide compound with a spinel structure and a lithium-transition metal oxide compound. The negative electrode includes an active material of graphite coated with a weakly crystalline carbon of which the total or a part of a surface of this first graphite material is coated with a second carbon material with a weaker crystallinity.
