<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate designation of an attention area in a moving image under playback. <P>SOLUTION: An attention area designation unit for designating the attention area, a portion of a moving image under playback, includes a moving image playback section 200 for displaying the moving image on a moving image display area. The above moving image playback section 200 has an area designation mode, which displays an area frame representing the attention area, and an ordinary playback mode, which does not display the area frame. The area designation mode is executed when a pointing device 160 is operated, while the ordinary playback mode is executed when the pointing device 160 is not operated.
