A castanospermine ester is described to be used in the manufacture of a medicament for the therapy or prophylaxis of a Flavivirdae infection. The medicament is disclosed to comprise a castanospermine ester of formula (I), wherein R, R1 and R2 are independently selected from the following substitutents: hydrogen; C1-14 alkanoyl; C2-14 alkenoyl; cyclohexanecarbonyl; C1-8 alkoxyacetyl; naphtha-lenecarbonyl optionally substituted by methyl or halogen; phenyl(C2-6 alkanoyl) wherein the phenyl is optionally substituted by methyl or halogen; cinnamoyl; pyridinecarbonyl optionally substituted by methyl or halogen; dihydropyridine carbonyl optionally substituted by methyl or halogen; dihydropyridine carbonyl optionally substituted by C1-10 alkyl; thiophenecarbonyl optionally substituted by methyl or halogen; furancarbonyl optionally substituted by methyl or halogen; or a compound of the formula (II) wherein Y is hydrogen, C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkoxy, halogen, trifluoromethyl, C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkylsulphonyl, C1-4 alkylmercapto, cyano or dimethylamino; Y' is hydrogen, C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkoxy or halogen; wherein at least one, but not more that two, of R, R1 and R2 is hydrogen; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or derivative thereof.
