A grey glass composition employing as its colorant portion at least iron (Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>/FeO), cobalt and possibly erbium oxide (e.g., Er<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>) is provided. The glass enables high visible transmission, and satisfactory IR absorption, while at the same time achieving desired grey color.
