PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately protect the copyright of contents and to enhance convenience of a user. SOLUTION: When a recording and reproducing device copies contents stored on a disk A on a disk B, the device discriminates contents A being secure contents which are enciphered by a prescribed method from contents B being non-secure contents and the device copies only the non-secure contents (contents B) in an auxiliary memory and the device stores IDs of the contents B and the disk A by associating them with each other. Thereafter, when a user removes the disk A from the recording and reproducing device and the user loads the disk B on the device newly, the device decides whether a disk different from the disk A is loaded or not and when the device decides that the disk B is different from the disk A, the device copies contents on the disk B from the auxiliary memory.
