PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer having excellent heat resistance, optical and mechanical properties, a resin composition, an optical component, an optical film, an optical film with a gas barrier layer, an optical film with a transparent conductive layer, an optical film with a TFT and an image display device.

SOLUTION: The polymer comprises a structure represented by general formula (1) and/or (2) in the backbone as a repeating unit. In general formula (1), R11, R12, R13and R14each denote a substituent; a1 and b1 each denote an integer of 0-3; and c1 and d1 each denote an integer of 0-4. In general formula (2), R21, R22, R23and R24each denote a substituent; a2 and d2 each denote an integer of 0-3; and b2 and c2 each denote an integer of 0-4.
