PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an end surface polishing method for a multifiber optical connector that can eliminate a recess (recessed part) formed on a core part of an optical fiber (MM fiber). SOLUTION: Prepared is a burnishing machine which has a film of 75μm in thickness, containing no abrasive, on a soft material of≤30 in Shore hardness and has abrasives on the top surface of the film. Then the multifiber optical connector having a plurality of optical fibers as a multi-mode fiber is disposed so that tips of the optical fibers (MM fibers) may come into contact with the top surface of the film under predetermined pressure. Then while the tips of the optical fibers (MM fibers) and the top surface of the film are held in contact with each other, at least one of the burnishing machine and multifiber optical connector is moved to polish the tips of the optical fibers (MM fibers).
