PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal device for a high temperature gas valve having each of heat-proof performance, abrasion proof performance and strength performance and capable of keeping a stable seal performance for a long period of time.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a seal device 1 assembled in a clearance between a housing 2 and a shaft 6 rotated or reciprocated within the housing 2 in which there are provided an annular seal member 9 knitted with inorganic fiber having a wide width in a radial direction and a pair of pressing plate members 10a, 10b having a wide width in a radial direction for holding the seal member 9 from its both surfaces to keep its held state. Inner and outer ends in a radial direction of the seal member 9 protrude from the inner ends of the pressing plate members 10a, 10b in their radial direction to inside or outside in their radial direction. The seal member 9 is compressed in an axial direction by the holding forces of the pressing plate members 10a, 10b to cause the inside or outside ends of the seal member 9 in the radial direction are further protruded inside or outside in a radial direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
