1355510 Heating hair-rollers BRISTOLMYERS CO 16 Aug 1971 [18 Sept 1970] 38334/71 Heading A4V A cabinet for heating hair rollers 10 comprises a combination of a casing 3, a hinged lid 5, a base plate 15 to hold a hair treatment liquid, a plurality of supporting posts 12 and means for heating both the liquid and the posts. The casing 3 may be formed of a plastics material and the transparent lid is attached to it by a hinge 7. The treatment liquid is placed on the base plate through the shoot 22. When the heating element which comprises a mica plate-type electric coil heater 20 is energized the heat produced is conducted to the base plate 15 and the posts 12 by a heat conducting plate 19. The plates 15, 19 are held in close contact by flanges 16 at the base of each post. The base plate is held out of contact with the sides of the casing 3 by a supporting member 25. The base plate has a detachable baffle 27 with apertures to pass over the posts to allow the vapourized liquid to pass through. A baffle 30 directs any condensed vapour back on to the base plate. The temperature attained by the heating element 20 is controlled by a thermostat 35. The operating temperature of the heater is varied by shielding the thermostat by an L-shaped aluminium arm 38. A slide assembly 40 allows the arm 38 to be moved to cover a variable amount of the thermostat. The greater the area covered the higher the operating temperature will be. The cabinet may be used without a heating liquid and separate heaters may be provided to heat the liquid and the posts. The posts which are received by internal tubular sleeves 14 of the rollers, may be heated by circulating the heated liquid through them. The cabinet is provided with compartments to hold the mains connecting cable and the hair clips used with the rollers. The lid may be provided with downwardly - pointing pyramidal projections above each of the mounting posts, the rollers having corresponding upwardly directed conical ends. |
