<p>1280031 Testing bonding GC OPTRONICS Inc 10 July 1969 [28 Aug 1968] 34733/69 Heading G1S [Also in Division G2] Honeycomb panel structure 30 bonds between core and skin are analyzed by superimposing a reconstructed hologram of the skin in a first state on the skin in a second state whereby anomalies in the bond show up as interference fringes, the pressure on the interior of the honeycomb being different from that externally of the skin at the first state and this differential being varied for the second state. A transparent vacuum attachment 20 is fixed to the outer surface of the skin. A pressure differential is created between the honeycomb and the outer skin and a hologram 46 made. The hologram after development is illuminated to give an optical reconstruction superimposed upon the actual skin. The pressure differential is then changed and any anomalies will be seen as fringe patterns. The pressure differential is formed by evacuating the attachment 20 or increasing the internal pressure of the honeycomb where the structure permits this. Alternatively a double hologram may be formed of the two states which upon reconstruction will show fringe lines where anomalies occur, or the whole panel may be placed in an evacuated chamber.
