B1-B2 and G2-G3) is also provided with an electrolytic arrangement whereby the carrier gas can be separated from the column effluent for regeneration. The carrier gas, e.g. H 2 , and sample effluent mixture is passed to the inner of two concentric hydrogen permeable electrodes 72, 74 separated by an electrolyte, e.g. a Grp.1 metal hydroxide, which is capable of transporting an oxidized species of the carrier gas. The hydrogen diffusing through electrode 72 is oxidized to water and then regenerated by electrode 74. The hydrogen is then recycled via line 84.</p> |
