Protecting buffer mounted on quay or ship - has rubber tyres joined on faces and internal rubber stop

The buffer consists of a number of hollow rings (5) such as aircraft tyres which are joined together side by side. The rearmost tyre is fastened to a wooden frame (12) which is either suspended in the desired position from the quay or from another ship. The outer end of the tyres is attached to a plate (6) which contains a number of holes (7 & 24) which facilitate the escape of water when the buffer is compressed by a ship. Around the periphery of the plate there is a rubber block (8) and around the centre of the same plate there is a rubber ring. Inside the buffer there is a rubber boss (22) which projects from the back plate.
