Y is oxygen or sulphur and n is zero, 1, 2, or 3. Resins include cross linked polyesters, amideformaldehydes and amino-triazine formaldehydes. Preferred dyes are benzoxanthenes and benzothioxanthenes prepared by heating diazonium salts in the presence of Cu or Cu salts. Pigment is prepared by adding benzoxanthene- 3,4-dicarboxylic acid anhydride-di-sulphonic acid and resin, then paraformaldehyde to p-toluene sulphonamide at 130‹ C. The temperature is increased to 160-170‹ C. and on cooling a brittle material forms which is ground to a particle size of 0À1-30 Á. The pigment is used for paint, laquer, printing ink or to colour plastics material.</p> |
