In the detection of chorionic gonadotropin in urine in which the urine is mixed with an antibody to chorionic gonadotropin and with a passive haemorgglutination indicator in order to form a reaction mixture, the reaction mixture is adjusted to pH 5.5-6.5, pref. with the aid of a buffer (which is pref. added together with the antibody). Agents for carrying out the procedure contain antibody, indicator and a suitable buffer, the buffer pref. being in admixture with the antibody and separate from the indicator. Used for pregnancy testing. Control of pH improves the repducicibility of the test and reduces the incidence of false negative results. |
