1. An ink for ink jet, the ink comprising:
a coloring material; and a water-soluble organic solvent, wherein the coloring material includes a compound represented by the following general formula (III), wherein the water-soluble organic solvent includes bis(2-hydroxyethyl)sulfone and 1,5-pentanediol, wherein a content A (mass %) of the bis(2-hydroxyethyl)sulfone based on the total mass of the ink is 8.0 mass % or more and 12.0 mass % or less, wherein a content B (mass %) of the 1,5-pentanediol based on the total mass of the ink is 1.0 mass % or more and 5.0 mass % or less, wherein a content C (mass %) of the compound represented by the general formula (III) based on the total mass of the ink is 0.1 mass % or more and 10.0 mass % or less, and wherein a mass ratio (AB) of the content A (mass %) to the content B (mass %) is 2.5 times or more and 4.0 times or less:in the general formula (III):
