Continuous mfr. of multi-strand power cable - uses motor driven guide disc periodically changing rotational direction (SW 27.12.77)

The continuous manufacturing line is for multi-stranded electrical power cable. The line commences with four separate supply reels feeding a disc type head via guide rollers. The disc head has one slot per wire on its circumference maintaining the relative wire positions as it is rotated, rotation being reversed at set intervals. The disc is pulley driven from an electric motor the gearing being such as to provide the required number of wire twists per unit length. Immediately down line from the disc the grouped wires are clad from an injection unit, the complete cable being reeled after passing through a cooling zone.
