A fixed member 5 is arranged within the sleeve to support the sleeve where it guides a fibre-wet. The member 5 may have perforations 5' through which water can be extracted by suction. The device may be used as a cylinder former (Figs. 1 and 3, not shown), as a drainage device (e.g. on a Fourdrinier wire, Fig. 4, not shown) or as a transfer device (e.g. for transferring a fibre web from a wire to a felt, Fig. 5, not shown) When used in a forming section, the cylindrical sleeve may form the inner wire of a twin-wire former.
