Holder for a series of rods or needles on which a narrow strip of fabric is to be woven by hand, comprises a bottom block, a top block and fasteners by which the two blocks can be fixed in position relatively to each other. On >=1 surface of one of the blocks, are centralising elements for holding the rods parallel to each other. The centralising elements are ribs forming channels laid out parallel to each other, and having possibly different dimensions and forms. The centralising elements may be arranged on the upper and lower faces of a block, or they may be provided on four surfaces of the block. Arrangement ensures that the rods or needles are held securely and parallel, partic. useful where an operator does not have the full use of both hands. The rods have eyelets for attaching the warp threads, so that, as a number of courses of weft are laid in. the holder can be opened and the weft pushed over the eyelets on to the warp threads.
