<p>The drive circuit, for plame-proof weather-proof motors, converts the dc voltage from a safe power supply into an ac voltage which is then used to supply the motor. This static inverter comprises two parallel diodes. A third diode is connected in series into the supply lines to protect against incorrect poling. The inverter and motor are made into one unit by casting in resin or another suitable insulating material. One advantage of the control system is that the supply current needs to be only slightly larger than the motor rated current.</p> |
